Our home for the retreat is Dales of Derby — a purpose-built, design-forward group stay made for cosy connection and calm. Nestled in Tasmania’s northeast, this award-winning space blends modern architecture with warm, inviting interiors and thoughtful touches throughout.
At the heart of it all? A spacious communal zone with a wood heater and fully equipped kitchen — the perfect spot for shared meals, morning coffees, and fireside chats that last long into the night.
Sleeping arrangements are all about the retreat vibe — a shared setup with custom-designed bunk beds across two rooms, each room capped at 6 people. It’s relaxed, low-key, and made for creatives who don’t mind a little communal magic.
Oh, and it’s not just us who think it’s amazing — The Dales picked up the Barry McNeill Award for Sustainable Architecture and the Commercial Architecture Award from the Australian Institute of Architects, Tasmanian Chapter.
